The first Meeting of the proposed Veteran and Vintage Car Club was held on 26/8/1965 (so it’ll be 50 years in 2015).
This meeting was held at a home in Mount Gambier. Seventeen people attended this meeting and after a lengthy discussion the basis of a Club was formed.
An election of Officers and Office Bearers duly took place.
A meeting of the Committee was arranged for a date one week later at which time a Constitution was to be drawn up.
It was decided to call the Club ‘The Mount Gambier Veteran and Vintage Car Club’ and subscription rates and joining fees were decided upon.
The aims of the Club were to be primarily the restoration and preservation of Veteran and Vintage cars and to use such vehicles in competitive activities.
It was agreed at this meeting to publish a monthly Newsletter, which has continued through to this day.
